Bad Credit Credit Card Holders Can Survive

Now Viewing: Home -> Credit cards -> Bad Credit Credit Card Holders Can Survive

Credit card holders with a low credit rating are not completely out of luck. Many can survive even with the poor credit ratings they have created. There are companies that will extend credit to this type of customer. That is referred to as a bad credit credit card.

This type of credit card will actually give a person with a low credit rating the opportunity to improve and restore their credit rating. It can truly be a lifesaver of sorts for people that typically pay bills on time, but had a very bad experience in life causing them to fall behind on payments to creditors.

A bad credit credit card is commonly known in the industry as a secured credit card. This type of secured credit card requires the individual to open up an account with the credit card issuer that maintains a cash balance. Often, as little as $100 is required. The cash balance is required by the credit card issuer to establish trust. The company knows that you had problems making payments in the past, so they will not feel comfortable providing true credit until you show that you can make timely and consistent payments.

A bank or credit card issuer often pays monthly interest on the balance you maintain in the account with them. But, that should be confirmed with the bank or card issuer. The credit limit on a bad credit credit card is determined by the cash balance in your account and is typically between 50-100% of the cash balance. These type of bad credit credit cards are commonly referred to as debit cards, owing to the fact that they work less in a credit-giving manner and more in a debit-giving manner.

There are many companies offering bad credit credit cards. While researching for them to find the one best suited for you, there are a few items to consider.

  1. the minimum balance that you are required to maintain in the bank account
  2. the credit limit that you will receive (i.e. the percentage of your bank account balance that you are allowed to spend on your bad credit card card
  3. the fees/other-charges applicable to the procurement of bad credit card card
  4. the rate of interest that you will receive on the balance in your bank account

The ideal bad credit credit card would provide no fees or miscellaneous charges and require zero a small amount for the minimum bank balance. Ideally, there would be as much as 90-100% of the bank balance for the credit limit. Additionally, it would offer a decent interest rate on the required cash balance.

For people learning how to get out of debt, working on restoring their credit or going through debt consolidation, a debt card or bad credit credit card can be very beneficial in surviving credit problems.
